Eagles Nest is a gated mountain community spanning over 1,300 acres at 5,200 feet in Banner Elk, North Carolina. Set in the Blue Ridge Mountains of the High Country, it sits about ten minutes from downtown Banner Elk, ten to fifteen minutes from Sugar Mountain and Beech Mountain ski resorts, and roughly twenty-five minutes from Boone and Blowing Rock. Summer temperatures up here rarely top 75 degrees.
Our collection of cabins and homes inside Eagles Nest ranges from cozy two-bedroom retreats to spacious multi-level lodges that sleep 12 or more — suited for couples, families, ski groups, and large gatherings alike. Every property is managed by NC Cabin Rentals and comes with access to the full slate of community amenities included with your stay.
There's a lot to do without ever leaving the gate. The Great Camp is the social hub — home to the outdoor amphitheater where live concerts run nearly every Friday and Saturday from Memorial Day through Halloween, a BBQ pavilion with fireplace, grills, and bar, an 18-hole mountain mini-putt course, a ropes course, archery, climbing towers (seasonal), a playground, and horseshoes and cornhole. The Toy Barn is a staffed kids' activity center with games, sports gear, and snacks. There's also a Cigar and Wine Bar and a 24/7 Dollar General concept store for anything you forgot to pack.
Over at the North Pavilion, you'll find a sports court with basketball and pickleball, a ball field, a dog park, a fire pit, and walking trails. The woodland trail system connects to miles of hiking, biking trails - from valley paths along the river to ridge trails above 5,000 feet.
Camp Eagles Nest adds two tennis courts, pickleball courts, disc golf, archery, a climbing tower (seasonal), a playground, basketball courts, multi-sport fields, a stocked fishing pond, and primitive campsites. Just bring your own equipment.
The River Club sits along the Elk River with 2,000 feet of private frontage and access to trophy trout fishing waters — one of the quieter spots in the community, open to guests staying in the River Club.
For dining, Epic Chophouse is Eagles Nest's upscale steakhouse, perched at 4,300 feet with panoramic mountain views. Open Tuesday through Saturday — reservations recommended. Reach out to us after you've booked and we'll share their contact info. The Eagles Nest Winery is also open to guests with a day pass purchase.
Between the trails, the concerts, the dining, the river, and the kids' activities, Eagles Nest has enough going on that some guests never make it past the gate - but if you do, Beech and Sugar Mountain's lifts, Banner Elk's restaurants, Grandfather Mountain, and the Blue Ridge Parkway are all within a short drive.
If your home sits inside the gate and empty most of the year, it can be earning! NC Cabin Rentals manages homes throughout the High Country and knows what Eagle's Nest homes actually book for — not what a generic online calculator guesses. We'll run a free revenue analysis on your specific home, built from real booking data on comparable Eagle's Nest and Banner Elk properties, and show you the numbers before you commit to anything.
