Birch & Squirrel is a warm, modern mountain retreat in Eagles Nest Village, minutes from Banner Elk. Freshly expanded to sleep up to 22, with more living space and activities for the whole crew. Each bedroom is designed as a peaceful retreat, offering soft textures, comfortable bedding, and a sense of privacy for restful nights. The bathrooms are clean and well-appointed, adding convenience and comfort to your stay.

There is also a newly finished lower level, great for groups - with triple full bunks and an additional bedroom with a King / Twin bunk combo, there is plenty of space to gather.

Epic Chophouse restaurant in Banner Elk offers the top dining experience and best mountain views in the High Country of North Carolina. We literally elevated food and drink in the Blue Ridge when we opened our Eagles Nest location at 4,300 feet elevation in 2025. Perched atop a knoll with panoramic vistas, our gorgeous mountain lodge setting has soaring ceilings, glass walls and striking art. Watch summer sunsets from covered decks complete with firepits. Open year-round, the bar and dining room with a massive stone fireplace are perfect places to gather with friends on winter days.
