Whisper Ridge

A quiet hardwood bench above Deep Gap, ten minutes from the Blue Ridge Parkway and twenty from downtown Boone. Long-range mountain views fill the corner windows and the deck. Three bedrooms, three full baths, hickory floors under a beamed plank ceiling. Gather at the fire pit, cook on the gas range, then settle in by the fireplace. Central air, wifi, full laundry, a separate workspace, and a kitchen stocked for real cooking. Travel crib, high chair, and toys provided. Self check-in. Sleeps 8.

Whisper Ridge is the kind of house that makes you slow down about ten minutes after you drop your bags. It sits on a level bench of hardwood forest outside Deep Gap, far enough off the road that the loudest thing most mornings is the wind moving through the trees.

Inside, it reads like a well-built barn in the best way. Wide hickory floorboards swing from bone-blonde to chocolate across a single run. A tongue-and-groove plank ceiling crosses the whole main floor under one dark rough-sawn beam. Windows framed in honey knotty pine let in plenty of natural light, and a built-in fireplace with a reclaimed barn-beam mantel handles the cold evenings.

**MAIN LEVEL**
The living room, dining area, and kitchen share one open space. The kitchen has a five-burner gas range, over-range microwave, dishwasher, and a full-size side-by-side refrigerator with ice and water in the door, plus a coffee station with a Nespresso, a drip coffee maker, and an electric kettle. Cherry cabinets, a pearlescent hammered-metal backsplash, and room to work. The dining table seats six under an antler chandelier.

Also on this level: the third bedroom with a queen bed, beside a full Jack-and-Jill bath that also opens into the dining room. This is the room to take if stairs are a problem or if someone is getting up early. The laundry closet with a full-size washer and dryer is on this floor too.

**UPSTAIRS**
The king bedroom is the largest room in the house, with a low platform bed, a ceiling fan, windows on two sides, and its own en-suite bath. The second bedroom up here is set up as a kids' room, with a twin-over-full bunk and a twin-over-twin bunk (one with a removable bed rail for younger sleepers), a ceiling fan, and its own private bath with a walk-in shower.

**OUTSIDE**
Three separate outdoor spots. A covered side porch with a bench and a bistro table. A large open front deck, currently unfurnished — a great spot for morning yoga or stretching. And a backyard with a rust-red metal porch swing on chains and a table that seats six, open rather than enclosed. There's also a small office building in the backyard, with two desks, included in your stay if you need a quiet place to work. The fire pit is where most evenings end up.

**FAMILY-READY**
We mean it. Already on site: a travel crib, high chair, baby bath, stair gate, children's dishes, and toys and board games. The parking pad is large, level gravel with room for three or four vehicles, set well back from the road. Bring less.

**GETTING COMFORTABLE**
Central air conditioning and heat. Wireless internet throughout. A full-size washer and dryer inside the home. Towels, bed linens, and starter toiletries are provided, and the kitchen is stocked with cooking basics.

**A NOTE ON THE LAYOUT**
The home has two finished levels connected by one open staircase, and there is no elevator. If anyone in your group would rather avoid stairs entirely, the main-level bedroom and its bath sit on the entry floor along with the kitchen, living room, and laundry.
