Ten seconds after you come through the front door, you will understand the name. The great room opens into a cathedral wall of glass and the Appalachians stack up behind it, ridge after ridge, going blue and then purple as they roll north into Virginia. Purple mountains majesty, right there in the window. We do love Jimi. That is not where the name came from.

This is a real log cabin rather than a cabin-themed house: exposed beams, hardwood floors, a corner stone fireplace with gas logs, and a wall of windows that does most of the decorating. It sits on a quiet dead-end road in the hills between Boone and Blowing Rock, close enough to both that you can have breakfast on the deck and be downtown in fifteen minutes.

MAIN LEVEL
Great room with the window wall, stone gas fireplace, smart TV, and seating for the whole group. Galley kitchen equipped for actual cooking — drip coffee and a Keurig, electric kettle, water filter, blender, mixer, baking pans, spices. Separate dining area with a table for eight. Sliders open to the large deck: hot tub, gas grill, dining furniture and umbrella.

Primary suite, main level: king bed, private bath with shower, and its own deck access. No stairs required to reach a bedroom.

LOFT
Two twin beds, a leather sofa and a reading nook, looking down over the great room and out at the view.

LOWER LEVEL

Two bedrooms, each with a queen, sharing a full bath with a tub-shower. A den with a queen sleeper sofa and a second TV with a DVD and video library — guests consistently mention how good it is to have a second TV space away from the main room. Laundry room. The covered deck offers the long-range mountain view and features a fire pit, creating a cozy outdoor space for guests to gather, relax, and enjoy the surroundings.

FAMILY-READY
The road is a rural dead end with very little traffic, which makes it unusually easy on kids and dogs. Tweetsie Railroad is a ten-minute drive and there is a big playground in the middle of Blowing Rock. Dogs are welcome for a fee. Please note the outdoor decks are not suitable for young children unsupervised.

GETTING COMFORTABLE
Central air conditioning and heating. WiFi throughout the cabin. Smart TV in the great room, second TV in the lower-level den. Washer and dryer, iron and board. Towels, linens and starter toiletries are provided.

A NOTE ON STAIRS
The primary suite, kitchen, living and dining areas are all on the main level. The loft and the two lower bedrooms are reached by stairs, and there is no elevator.
